A quick look at Albergue work over the past couple of weeks shows how connecting make us stronger
Learning from the experience of others
Members of the Patronato (Board) and others met with the Vincentinas for guidance in providing high-quality services to migrants. Their Albergue, in the Bosque in Morelia, has been offering shelter and care to people ill with cancer and their families, for over 30 years.
Marco will be visiting an albergue iin Villa Madero that houses 50 college students who stay each week. Marco and Miguel are focused particulary on the challenge of obtaining and managing consumables — keeping a flow of food and supplies for people who arrive, and leave.
Construction
Pedro met with the head of the Michoacan Camara de Construction, seeking help with our project to get the dining room and security guard house built.
Communications
Juan Carlos is officially registering our logo, and Miguel will ask Lucia to help us paint large ones in the albergue. Miguel will hook up our administration offices with internet, and Juan Carlos is getting our donated laptop and printer ready for use.
Donations
The National Institute of Migration donated fifty brand-new blankets, responding to a contact from Padre Javier. Miguel received and stored them.
Miguel and Olga are preparing a request for donations from Merza for kitchen items.
And Clay set up a Go Fund Me fundraising push to get the Albergue doors open. The Patronato also set up an account for accepting donations via Bancomer — a huge step forward!
Planning, building, organizing, establishing, and running the Albergue takes — and will continue to take — the dedication, cooperation, and heart of countless people and organizations. Thank you all for helping!
